Learning experience design studio

Learning experiences that move people forward.

We design learner-centered experiences from first concept to a tested minimum viable product. Our work is grounded in adult learning science, shaped by UX, and measured against a clear standard.

Process · The Benchmark Method

Our service is one process.

Our practice is built on proven instructional design processes and established frameworks, made iterative. Five connected stages take learning from first concept to a tested, measured result. Findings loop back at every stage, and each one ends with a visible milestone. Select a stage to see what happens and what you receive.

Every case study shows its evidence.

Each story follows the same path: problem, learner need, approach, prototype, tested evidence, result. Case studies are being prepared with client approval.

About the studio

A benchmark is a standard results are measured against.

That's the idea behind the studio. Every learning experience we design should have a clear purpose, a visible development process and evidence that it works.

  1. P.01

    Intentional design

Every screen, activity and assessment exists for a reason we can name.

  2. P.02

    Learner experience first

We design around the people doing the learning, in the context where they do it.

  3. P.03

    Science-based practice

Established frameworks, chosen for fit and named openly, never applied by default.

  4. P.04

    Accountability

Clear milestones and success measures agreed up front, reported honestly.

  5. P.05

    Collaboration

Your subject-matter experts and learners are part of the design team.

Meet the founder

Justin Lofton

Founder & Creative Director

Justin Lofton is a learning experience designer who turns complex content into learning people finish, remember, and use. He takes projects from concept to a tested minimum viable product, starting with the learner and the performance problem rather than the content. His work spans needs assessment, curriculum development, eLearning, LMS administration, accessibility, AI integration, and course analytics, across audiences from young people to corporate teams. He works fluently across a range of authoring tools and learning management systems, and holds instructional design certifications from the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

What sets Justin apart is systems thinking. Beyond the course itself, he builds the infrastructure that keeps learning sustainable and scalable. Every project starts with two questions: what result does the organization need, and what must learners do differently to get there? It ends with proof that both happened. That is the standard Benchmark LXD Studio is built on.
